As we celebrate forty-five years in business, we’re sharing some of the most unusual and interesting stories in our history.
Forty-five years ago, the name Sam Dash was in the newspapers all the time. As the Chief Prosecutor of the Watergate proceedings, Mr. Dash was the lead interrogator during Senate hearings and became the frequently televised face of the pursuit of justice.
When Rosenfeld’s Bagels owner and founder Marc Rosenfeld received a letter from Chevy Chase, Maryland, he was surprised to find that Sam Dash’s wife was writing with a plea for a special delivery of Rosenfeld’s Bagels. On a recent visit to Boston, friends had introduced them to Rosenfeld’s Bagels, and the Dashes were hooked. With plans to be in Cambridge, Massachusetts for a weekend visit, Mrs. Dash was wondering if it would be possible to have three dozens of bagels delivered to them?
The team at Rosenfeld’s Bagels was absolutely thrilled to be able to help the Dashes have the best visit possible to the Greater Boston area and promptly delivered the bagels. Having only been in business for a few short years, it was a pleasant surprise to be singled out for such a distinction. Now, forty-five years later, we still make our bagels and bread the way we always have — with care, quality and a little bit of malt syrup to add a touch of sweetness. Come visit us and find out for yourself why Rosenfeld’s made such a notable impression on such a notable person.
